The song "Boogie Box", a huge hit for Fern Kinney in Europe, was co-written by the late Carson Whitsett and my husband, the late Scott Mateer who died in his home in Flowood, Ms. in December of 2006. He was 46. Scotty and Carson later wrote a song called, "Dear Me" in Nashville, and after 6 years, singer Lorrie Morgan cut it, and it was a top ten country hit for her. After Lorrie's husband, Keith Whitley, died of alcohol poisoning, the lyrics to "Dear Me" took a whole new meaning, and turned the country music world upside down. Both Scotty and Carson were a first-round Grammy pick for "Dear Me". I miss Scotty terribly, and I'm sure I will all the days of my life.
