Arpeggio was a Simon Soussan production. Simon originally hailed from the Middle East and then moved to the UK and later the US and started Harem Records.
This white label promo album included Arpeggio's two biggest tracks; "Love and Desire" and "Let the Music Play." Later Arpeggio tracks were "Breakout" and "The Fighter."
Soussan, who has connections to Northern Soul, is also known for his other Disco group French Kiss with their hit "Panic." In addition, he produced "Uptown Festival" for Shalamar and various tracks for Patti Brooks (After Dark), Romance, Simon Orchestra and Jessica Williams (Queen of Fools).
El Coco producers Laurin Rinder and W. Michael Lewis got their Disco start working with Soussan remastering and remixing classic R & B songs in the very early 70's. More info on this can be found by reading my exclusive interview with Laurin Rinder.

Feb 27, 2008 | 9:56 amA solid TEN on my scale from 1-10. Let me talk about this album a little. Besides the full-12" version on the LP of LOVE AND DESIRE, it had LET THE MUSIC PLAY, another DISCO CLASSIC. That is TWO DISCO CLASSICS on one LP! Fantastic! Yet, my favorite cut on this album, and I would marry both LOVE AND DESIRE and LET THE MUSIC PLAY, that's how much I love those songs! My favorite cut was the cover of RUNAWAY!! There was something the way it sounded through the SIXTY BOSE speakers that were throughout Club MENAGE (Miami) that made me almost have an orgasm. It went deep into my insides, shook me up, made me love hearing it. And the crowd reacted the same! I LOVE THIS ALBUM!!

Oct 14, 2005 | 5:33 amHi!
I have a test record from dct-records where "let the misic play" is from Simon Orch. (written over the name Michael Reed). I's half of something that is called the After Dark Medley, from the TGIF soundtrack. So I suppose that it should have been this and After Dark together as a medley on the TGIF soundtrack, but it didn't make it. Probably there was only room for After Dark on the soundtrack. So in stead of Michael Reed and The Simon Orchestra, Arpeggio became the name under which Simon Sousan brought this very funny "Let the music play" on the market.
By the way, i believe that that very high pitch voice that sings on almost all of Simon's records, is Simon himself. The album from "Romance" has this voice as the lead singer, called "Mona Lisa". I guess that was Simon's alter ego. Cheers!
