Don Armando's Second Avenue Rhumba Band scored a Disco hit with 1979's "Deputy of Love" on Ze Records.
With people like Andy Hernandez, the late Don Armando Bonilla and August Darnell (Doctor Buzzard's, Odyssey, Kid Creole, Machine . . .) you know Don Armando's Second Avenue Rhumba Band has to be good.
Oh, and the vocals were by Fonda Rae who later did "Over Like A Fat Rat" on Vanguard Records.

DEPUTY OF LOVE is not only one of my all-time personal favorites, but a certified DISCO CLASSIC!!! I would use three turntables, one had the MIDNIGHT EXPRESS playing, the other had FEVER by FANTASY and then on their breaks, I would overlay DEPUTY OF LOVE'S introduction, cutting out on measure when the vocals began to sing. The crowds would go wild. An easy TEN on my scale from 1-10!
