MUSIC REVIEW & RECORD COLLECTOR NOTES

The superior sound quality found on this rare promotional only 12” was next to impossible to get when this song first became known at local Discos, and the limited numbers available for distribution kept even active DJ members from receiving copies from their Local Record Pool.

Later the same year this long “Tom Moulton Mix” version was first made available at local shops on Detroit Emeralds’ Westbound album “Feel the Need” (WB 302), and the following year Westbound again included this version with other hits of the day on the compilation album titled “Westbound Disco Sizzlers” (WT - 6107), but as far as I know this 12” single with this long version was never released retail in the US.

Fortunately this version is readily available today from different sources including Tom Moulton’s double CD compilation released in 2006.

“Feel the Need” (along with Detroit Emeralds' previous hit “You want it, you got it”) is listed at number 163 on the Disc-o-La Fortune 500 Disco chart of the 1970s.
