YOUR REVIEWS & COMMENTS ON Coke Escovedo

UNCLE?? I thought it was her Dad, or is there another COKE Escovedo out there?? I really want to know??

That's what I read on the P.R. sheet that was with one of the promo albums I have of his. Could be a mistake, but I thought it sounded probable, since she was back singing with Prince as a 20+ year old ten years later.

My experience in New York City in the seventies put me face to face with COKE Escovedo. He had a ten year old, maybe a little older. This was his daughter. I always thought that SHELIA E was her. The ages add up, but you may be right, I really don't know. But I do know, that the SHELIA E of those great days sure was FINE! I think she was also GAY!! I wouldn't hesitate!!

By the way Chris, how is the weather over there? Thinking about taking a trip in September? Should I wait for a better time of the year??

Here's a biography I found online, that matches many others factually: Thomas Coke Escovedo was an American percussionist born April 30, 1941 in Los Angeles, California. Escovedo died on July 13, 1986. Escovedo was a member of the rock band Santana, and later formed the musical group Azteca. Escovedo toured with Stevie Wonder and Herbie Hancock. Escovedo's niece is Prince collaborator Sheila Escovedo (aka Sheila E.). Coke's brothers include Peter Escovedo, who was also percussionist with Santana (and father of Sheila E) and Alejandro Escovedo, who is currently a prominent recording artist working in the Americana style of music.

PM me about the weather.

You are of course right, it was Pete who I met, not Thomas. I do remember them both in SANTANA when I was a young man. Forgive me Chris, I am not very computer savvy, what does "PM me about the weather" mean? Pardon my ignorance. thank you!
Posted by: vyniljunkie | Mar 12, 08 | 8:19 pm

PM meant private message, for topics irrelevant to record listings, like tourism or weather. I tried to send you one (PM), but you're apparently not registered in the forums section. I'll just answer here, and give Bernie the option to delete irrelevant posts later if he wishes.

It's been hard to forecast weather in advance for the past 5 years: summers have been rainy, winters warm, etc.. Last august & september were constantly rainy & cloudy, and it's been rather warmish ever since.
Otherwise, in "normal" circumstances, september would usually be a good time to visit, for still long days, and agreeable weather. April, may, and june are usually good months too.

Thank you Chris, you are excellent. I appreciate you and your advice. I am relatively new to the 21st century, and just getting in the flow. It is tough for an old man like me to CHANGE. But I have. I haven't gotten into the forum, because I don't know how to get in!! I was a great deejay, but that was with vinyl records. Understand my computer retardation? Again thanks!

Don't worry about it, no problem. You just need to click on the "forums" button (above right), then repeat the registration process on that side of the site. If you have a hard time working your way through, try searching for "registration" and "forum" in the DiscoMusic google searchbox above for a tutorial. Good luck, and welcome aboard!!
