Atypical record on an atypical label. I only know of one other record pressed on the Gucci label under cat. # G 303: Vic Caesar's "Bare Knuckles" OST.
Like the better-known Gucci, this came from Beverly Hills. This label apparently has nothing to do with the luggage, accessories and clothing brand from Italy, or with the label from Miami The Gucci Crew would release their work on later, in the '80s.
About the Walkers, a humorous introduction is printed on the tail side:
"Meet the Walkers - Odell, Lano, and Jackson. they hail from the Queen city of the Great Lakes, Buffalo, New York. After school, the boys went into the pet food business with their dad, Willie. All the boys, as Willie, had a keen interest in music and began to practice in their spare time. A problem with the FDA forced the family to relocate temporarily to Allenwood, Pensylvania, where they were in the auto accessory business for several years. The family now operates a radioactive waste disposal facility in the heart of Manhattan.
Odell, the eldest brother, enjoys Balkan foods and is considered to be somewhat of a gourmet. He does vocals and plays keyboards. Odell's ambition is to combine his talents in the disposal business with music.
Lano, the middle brother, recently married, and hopes that this will not affect the group's cohesiveness. Lano is an avid cotillion goer and handle's the group's financial affairs. He hopes that his recent bankruptcy fraud conviction will not affect his ability to act as group fiduciary. Lano plays drums and horns (but not simultaneously).
Jackson is the group's equestrian, and hopes to ride Shetland ponies this year in the Garden. His immediate goal is to pay no return visits to Allenwood. He loves the "fast pace" of New York City and frequents Nathan's in the Village. Jackson plays bass guitar and sings falsetto.
The boys believe they owe their success to their dad, Willie, the late, great midwest big band leader. As Lano says, "Willie had soul". Willie recently left the group for retirement after a mishap at the disposal facility left him paralyzed. He still wheels in to their jam sessions.
The Walkers now have several albums in the can that will be released later this year. We all look forward to hearing and dancing to the music of the Walkers."
I don't know if this intro was meant as a joke, or depicts the reality of this family. Any how, "Ain't no way I'm losing you" is a great track to own, but this LP could hold its collectability on its rarity and the intro alone.
