MUSIC REVIEW & RECORD COLLECTOR NOTES

This record shows that some soul jazz artists, such as Jimmy McGriff managed to do the disco jump. My choice here goes for "Tailgunner", as "Sky Hawk" sounds too much, IMHO, like "Love Boat" disco.

"Tailgunner" starts with a raw funky hook, Jimmy McGriff shows a lot of warmth on the organ and this is followed by a guitar solo tuned like Carlos Santana's.

Overall, it's not marvelous, but remains nice instrumental disco.
