MUSIC COLLECTOR NOTES ON THIS VINYL RECORD ALBUM / SINGLE:

Herb Alpert (not Herb Albert), is best known for his easy listening jazz outfit called Herb Alpert and The Tijuana Brass. Alpert along with Jerry Moss were the founders of A & M Records. Even if you don't know who they are, it's almost certain you've seen the record with the girl with whipped cream on the cover in used record bins everywhere.

Herb Alpert had a sizeable hit with the low BPM number called Rise in 1979. This 12 inch Disco single is pressed on clear vinyl.

Alpert later came out with another good track in the 1980s called Rotation and Diamonds.

Hello:
In addition to being a #1 pop and Adult Contemporary hit it was also a #1 Jazz record and #1 selling Dance record on Billboard. It was also the 1st million selling 12" single.

In April of 1997 Rise was sampled as the music for Notorious BIG's hit Hypnotize which became a #1 pop, #1 r&b, and #1 hip hop record.

I remember a transparent vinyl 12' of RISE released by A&M in late 1979. This song was big, but not a prime-time player. I remember at a promotion giving out hundreds of copies to the club patrons. On my scale from 1-10, it gets a weak 6.
