When it comes to the Village People , many true Disco fans don't know whether to damn them or praise them.
While they certainly did not in any way invent Disco, the mainstream has for some reason decided to make the Village People along with the Bee Gee's the defacto Disco groups, which irks many Disco fans.
The Village People were the brainchild of French producer Jacques Morali (Ritchie Family) and consisted of Victor Willis (cop), Felipe Rose (Indian), David Hodo (construction worker), Randy Jones (cowboy), Glenn Hughes (biker) and Alex Briley (sailor).
The above Casablanca 12 inch Disco single features the Village People's two biggest hits, "YMCA" and "Macho Man."
Perhaps the Village People's best material is on their debut self titled album, which had the hits "San Francisco" and "Hollywood."

The promotional 12" (having the same number and blank flip side) eliminates "Macho Man". Unless one has both records, it's a coin flip between better fidelity/ likely earlier release and having a 12" version of "Macho Man"
