MUSIC REVIEW & RECORD COLLECTOR NOTES

Shalamar's original line-up included Jody Watley.

"Make That Move" and several other Shalamar songs were produced by Leon Sylver of the 1970's pop/R & B group The Slyvers (Hotline and Boogie Fever). Shalamar's earlier single, "Uptown Festival" from 1977 was produced by Simon Soussan of Arpeggio and French Kiss fame.

There is now an excellent Shalamar CD collection featuring many of their 12" classics.

Los Angeles based disco band, SHALAMAR's ''Make that move'' was taken from the Lp ''Three For Love'', an album that would show them to not only be a great dance group (“Make That Move” ), but also developing ballad singers (“This Is For the Lover In You”).
SHALAMAR were to shape the SoLAr sound (Sound of Los Angeles Records) and influence the sound of other groups on the label.
