Here's one obscure 12" that will curl lips with the collectors of Alec R. Costandinos & Cerrone titles... Santaren & The Loving Girls - Love In C Minor
Released in 1977 on Spanish label Movieplay as the B-side of Dance Tango Tango.
this is a very good version. However; more a sound-a-like remake of the original. The vocals and the heavy breathing are different from the original. On this Spanish version the focus is more on the beat and the strings. The vocals are similar-ISH but not as prominent and provocative as in the original ...the whole thing sounds VERY convincing though....
I have no idea why some producer in Spain wanted to remake a track so similar to the original. Was the original a hit in 1977 in France when this version came out in Spain in the same year?? It doesn't sound like a quickie though...
Maybe it was remade like the original because of the difficulty of obtaining the rights for the territory? Or because of the popularity of the group 'Santaren and the loving girls' in Spain?
Has anybody ever heard of Santaren & the loving girls???

Just picked it up in the east village for a buck. i agree w/your assesment of "love in c minor"--not a bad thing though, imo. i prefer the "dance tango tango" myself. and yes, quite a mystery. who else gan chime in about this rarity?
