Mega rare test pressing 12" of the Originals "Down To Love Town!" For all you guys looking to run the early Motown 12"s, this is a must.
Labeled PR-20 (not PR-23 as the "regular" promo copy which was backed with Tata Vega "Full Speed Ahead")......after finding this...I can only imagine what else might be out there on double "A" sided Motown test pressings..... Thelma Houston-"Don't Leave Me This Way"?

Probably not many Motown test press 'double A-siders' done, unless they were unnumbered or numbered using the 'regular' promo number and eliminating the flip side if it was different. Our records indicate, starting with PR-9 "Love Machine', only 6 vacant numbers in the early Motown promo PR series, including the above record.
Company files or better yet someone with a complete run would be the only two sources in determining which of these represent test presses or 'regular' promos. You indeed have a scarce item, possibly a one-off that will never be found again; we presume it is not an extended or edited version.
Just imagine how Michael Cuscuna felt when he found all those Blue Note LP test pressings in the United Artists vaults that were never released either commercially or promotionally.
