12" Disco single 45 rpm White Label Promo
Producer(s) : Larry Levan / DeBenedictus for City Peech Productions
Side A
Don't Make Me Wait (Extended 7:14)
Side B
Don't Make Me Wait (Dub 5:52)
Perhaps a classic from the moment it was released. They were also known as NYC Peech Boys on some of their Island releases. Sounded too close to the Beach Boys.
Famed British Electro-funk DJ Greg Wilson had this to add...
The version I played was the Dub mix on US West End (hence its inclusion on 'Classic Electro Mastercuts', which I compiled in '94). The fierce claps at the beginning of the track instantly set it apart, and would be much copied on numerous records that followed. Another important legacy of this release was that one of the versions issued was the first acappella intended for DJ use - this appeared in the US on the 7" release, and also on the UK 12 inch.

Like no other record; it will still sound strange to some ears; and gay, black and extremely masculine to mine. Groovy moaning blooms into shredding guitars. A dry, isolated quality makes these developments more dramatic than I can describe. Brilliant.
