MUSIC REVIEW & RECORD COLLECTOR NOTES

While Grace Jones later switched to EMI Records and continued releasing material through the 1980s, "Pull Up To the Bumper" is perhaps her last great track.

That song represents the sound of New York in the summertime. When dance music and r&b crossed over and you could find many songs on both charts.

The groove, the stunning delivery and Grace in all her splendor. What else is there to say ?

I personally didn't like this song initially when it was first released. I grew on me, ultimately, I learned to love it. I burned it out, playing it so often. I remember I was a guest deejay at ALEXANDRE in downtown Miami, and did a half-hour remix of this song. I guess that the deejay there either didn't play this cut, or the people there never heard a remix like that before. Everyone now started checking out who was doing the spinning. They would walk up to the booth, and peek inside, or knock on the door to introduce themselves." About time we had a REAL deejay they would tell me." The deejays there were friends of mine, I never returned. But it was PULL UP TO THE BUMPER when it was another deejay. everyone realized
