MUSIC REVIEW & RECORD COLLECTOR NOTES

Philly Soul meets the German Euro sound. Recorded at the Music Land Studios in Munich, West Germany the song "The Greatest Show On Earth" is taken from the Metropolis album of the same name.

While the tracks themselves were recorded in Munich, the vocals and horns were recorded at Philadelphia's Sigma Sound utilizing The Sweethearts of Sigma, which consisted of Carla Benson, Evette Benton and Barbara ingram. Their voices have graced many Salsoul and Philly productions during the 1970's and they put forth a meorable performance on "Greatest..."

On the same album Metropolis put out a song called "I Love N. Y. (New York)" which is simply downright silly and is take from a popular New York tourism commercial of the time. Pass by this song and just go straight for the quality cut which is "The Greatest Show On Earth." Mixed by Disco legend Tom Moulton the 12 inch featured here or the album is highly recommended.
