Jazz flutist Herbie Mann earlier gave us Barrabas' version of "Hijack." Celi Bee also did a version of "Superman" at around the same time on TK Records. This single was taken from the Herbie Mann album of the same name on Atlantic Records.

Other best disco recording for Herbie Mann was his cover of Celi Bee's "Superman" theme, it's even better than the original and peaked at #26 in the US Billboard charts. For this album, Herbie worked with New York disco producer Patrick Adams and together they wrote the original jazz-funk classic "Etagui", which was so popular it became the b-side of the 12" of "Superman".
