Aug 25, 2006 | 6:28 pmPeak-hour Hope Diamond whose brutal "Latin" percussion (every beat a fake, produced in Italy) actually improves on Steve Winwood's rock classic. Horn breakdown stuns on the 12" but overwhelms on the whole-side LP cut.
30 years later, this record remains one of the more memorable moments in club music history. The 18-minute vinyl LP version was fully engineered to match the histrionics and is to be obtained at any cost.
Only the inferior 11-minute 12" is available on an indifferently mastered "Prelude's Greatest Hits" CD.

Feb 13, 2005 | 11:55 amDisco classic "I'm a man", from the same album listen to "Hear me calling" both written by Malavasi and Taylor of the Peter Jacques Band. The 12" of ''Im a man'' was mixed by Savarese. Macho continued recording on European and Canadian labels after 1978

The 18-minute vinyl LP version is available on Grand 12 Inches #2
"Spinning this in the Keizer Karel Club in Nijmegen in the early 80's and mixing it to "Revanche" or "Easy Going's" "Fear". I found a shorter 11 minute master which was labeled being digital, but which sounded over- processed and was pumping into distortion. Frans vd Kamp came to me with a vinyl transfer which simply sounded better. Dilemma.... An over-eager mastering engineer probably ruined the only master version around, so this is the closest to conveying you the way it should sound, and to ease the pain of loss, in it's full 17:34 version."
