NOTES ON THIS VINYL RECORD:

This LP, like the group's previous one, was produced by Van McCoy, his distinctive sound and use of the glockenspiel evident throughout.

The title track starts with a downtempo, classical overture, it's not until 2:20 when the uptempo tune familiar from the single version kicks in.

The overture also includes a segment of music which simply has the lyrics "Life goes on... ooooooo....." repeating. This segment occurs throughout the rest of the disk segueing some tracks together, named "Live spiral" on the back cover of the LP, you can see from the track listing where this occurs.

The songs are all high quality soul/disco in the Van McCoy mould. If you liked "To each his own", you'll like this.

Reader Comments on Faith Hope and Charity

This is a great LP. It almost outclasses the first one. Unfortunately, there are some low points, like the Cherish/Monday Monday, and Time For Celebration cuts.

The cuts on this LP received some really cool promotion in the form of various alternate mixes on 45 and 12" as follows:
1. 2 Track 12" remix with Life Goes On and You're My Peace Of Mind, both remixed by David Todd
2. 4 Track 12" record including the above two tracks, and David Todd remixes of Gradually and Positive Thinking, my two other favorite cuts from the LP
3. 45 of Life Goes On featuring a 5 minute long version which is different from the David Todd and album mixes.
4. 45 of Time For Celebration featuring a 4 minute extended mix, longer than the LP version.

The one cut from the LP that got overlooked, but I think is very strong, is the mid-tempo stepper Just Wanted To Say I Love You.

Sadly, the following album on 20th Century failed to capture the great sound of this group, even though it was also produced by Van McCoy.

Will these albums ever get put onto CD? I highly doubt it. Too bad. You'll just have to seek out the records.

Just a side note - I've noticed that the Canadian pressing is flat and tinny sounding compared to the American pressing features rich and thick bass levels. Also, both versions feature a bad mix of Positive Thinking, where the highs disappear for a portion of the song.
