Of all Alec Costandinos' productions on Casablanca Records, Bad News Travels Fast is definitely the least attractive. The group consisted of Bernie Arcadio (keyboards), Dede Ceccarelli (drums) and Jaycee Chanavat (guitars), vocals by Arthur Simms and Sheri Komisar, as well as backing vocals by Madeleine Bell. Randy & Michael Brecker appeared on horns.
While everything is played superbly, the record is strangely lackluster, its blend of R&B, jazz and disco never really takes off, except on the opening track "Look Out" (also co-written by Alec). "A Sigh" was released on 12" but sank without a trace. Their second and final LP "Ordinary Man" - also released in 1979 - also had a strong title track, but the rest was just plain weird, and the group went back to backing Alec's other projects instead, which was definitely a better idea.
