MUSIC REVIEW & RECORD COLLECTOR NOTES
Submitted by megamixer (166)

This LP has become from the day I first listened to it (in Record Recycler on Pico, in L.A., for those looking for a good source), one of my faves. Listening to "Hot Buttered Boogie" and "You put the music in me" was like a Revelation. What's the purpose of listening to music, a mere combination of sounds? Emotions. The ability a track has, to make you sad, ecstatic, happy; sometimes even shiver all over. That's what happened to me while listening to (particularly) both those tracks, then and now.
Tasha Thomas has a very powerful voice, and is totally in command of it. She has that rare ability to transport you, delivering a flawless performance. I actually should write "was", because she passed away in 1984, which is the only reason I can imagine she's not more reknown, and not officially among the Divas.
