Unbelievably rare promo 12." This marks the first 12" single on Casablanca Records. There were 2 promo E.P.'s released before this one. The first was a multiple artist disco compilation LP (#NBLP-000) and another was the Hugh Masekela "Disco Kid" E.P. (NBLP-001). This is the first single cut 12" un the label. This is the only one i have ever seen.

May 24, 2005 | 2:28 pmThat makes two of us, 'cause I never saw this 12" until now, I don't think this funky number received much play then, at least not in my area, but I always loved my 7" copy......
Everywhere he goes,
he's always, looking for a Discotheque
who?
The Disco Kiiiiid, the Disco Kid
Hahaha, good stuff..

Yes, technically the first Casablanca 12' 'single', yet still prior to the NBD 12"/compilation numbering system, which began with the next 12" release "Spring Harvest" b/w "Winter Melody" by Donna Summer NBD 100, then the one-sided "Love in 'C' Minor by The Heart and Soul Orchestra NBD 101. After these two issues, Casablanca moved its promotional 12" and compilation numbering sequence to the well-known NBD 20000 series, and also once again changed the label art work (after just 2 12" issues) issues) to the final form that would last up through its absorption by Polygram in 1983. "The Disco Kid" came in an illustrated slip cover, as did "The Boys Did It" and "At The Kasbah".
