"The Break" by Katmandu (Kat Mandu) is a cornerstone of any Disco playlist and perhaps one of the most popular Disco instrumental of the Disco era. "The Break' is an instrumental track similar to Erotic Drum Band's "Plug Me To Death."
While the version on this TK Records 12 inch is the most popular and easiest to find, there was various remixes on Unidisc Records which included parts of the break playing backwards.
Later Katmandu releases (I Wanna Dance) were released on Emergency Record's Brass subsidiary without Joe La Greca.

Dec 25, 2007 | 4:54 amWhat can i say. Outstanding
instrumental. Right up there with
cocomotion. When you needed a long
song to show your stuff on the dance floor with, this was it. I remember
it was so popular that for nearly an entire decade all the football re-cap
shows would use it while featuring
video of the best plays of the week.
We used to use it at backround music
for our club's wet tee shirt contest!

What an instrumental song this was & still is today. If there ever was one song that would pull you out to the dance floor like a magnet this was it! I will never forget the days of the Big Apple Nite Club between Akron & Cleveland, Ohio during the late 1970s. The Music, The DJs, Drummer Billy Smith, 2,000 People, 10,000 Colored Lights & All the Ladies combined to make this club unlike any other! When this song was played there in 1979 the roof came off & it was a magic moment in the Disco Era! Robert Berardi Alliance, OH
