Carol Jiani
Hit 'N' Run Lover (12")
Matra Records (Canada) 1981 / MA-5
12" Disco single 33 ⅓ rpm vinyl record
Producer: Joe La Greca
Arranged by: Denis LePage (Le Page)
Side A
Hit 'N' Run Lover (MDR Version 9:35)
Side B
Hit 'N' Run Lover (7:07)
Nigerian singer Carol Jiani , who was born Uchenna Ikejiani, had a major hit with "Hit N Run Lover" in 1981. It was produced by Canadian producer Joe Le Greca who worked extensively with Denis LePage of Lime fame.
I never get tired of "Hit 'N' Run Lover" since it has a nice mix of funk, NRG and Disco. The Moby Dick Remix version, which is hollow and spacey sounding, is not as good as the definitive 7:07 standard version, which begins with the cowbell intro.
Carol Jiani also had moderate success with "Mercy" and "Touch and Go Lover."

Sep 12, 2005 | 2:16 amDoes anyone know if the original 7:07 is the same as the other original version 9:10 (on champagne label), or the 8 minute remix (on Unidisc)?
Thanks

Record collectors rejoice, there were so many versions of this record out to the public, you could get dizzy. Suffice to say that HIT N' RUN LOVER was/is a DISCO CLASSIC in every sense of the word. Everyone loved and played this song for a good year, and in the PRIME TIME!! Excellent introduction, fantastic breaks, a ver deejay friendly record. Made to remix, especially with all the different versions there are. A solid TEN!!
