Mar 12, 2005 | 5:22 pmSorry Bernie, but I think you meant Lynn Anderson and even though "I Beg You Pardon" was the stand out line in the song it was actually just called "Rose Garden" . Lynn Anderson was the California Horse Show Queen of 1966 (!) and although she never quite reached the super star status of Loretta Lynn , she did take her gold record "Rose Garden" all the way to Number 3 (December 1970) in Billboard , while the poor coal minor's daughter never once cracked the Top 40.
Lynn Anderson's 7in single was one of the rare single my mother actually bought.
So the song has special memories...
As an avid reader of STREETSOUND I was very aware of this track the moment the buzz started in Canada.
