This was The Ritchie Familys' first recording without Richie Rome their originator. Under the guidance of Jacques Morali (Village People) they created some great disco numbers. The entire A side is thematic with lush disco orchestration accentuated with some terrific lead guitar work by Jimmy Lee. The B side gives us the great disco version of Quiet Village. Overall a stellar disco album. Sadly this was also the last album by the trio of Gwen, Cheryl and Cassandra.

Feb 20, 2005 | 5:41 amProducer Jacques Morali seizing total control of "THE RITCHIE FAMILY", was by 1977 on a roll, and with his new partners, Henri Belolo, Phil Hurtt, and Horace Ott released the groups fourth album.
Many consider "African Queens" to be their consumate album. The changes had only begun, 20th Century out-T.K. Marlin in, Richie Rome out-Henri Belolo in. Sadly it seems the changes were more than any of the parties involved could handle. Thus sadly, "African Queens," was to be the final effort for Gwen, Cheryl and Cassandra.
A fifth lp was on it's way...

''African queens'' is a 1930's themed album who features a 13 minute disco medley, especially good and listen for ''Quiet village'' and ''Summer dance'' for the best disco tracks.
