MUSIC REVIEW & RECORD COLLECTOR NOTES

The Hues Corporation hailed from Los Angeles and earlier had given us Rock the Boat.

I Caught Your Act is about a cheating girlfriend at the "picture show." Although pop sounding, it is a very good song and worth seeking out on the Warner 12 inch.

That is exactly what I did on a nightly basis. this was a great song! I loved throwing it on, it tore-up the floor. I remember in 1977, I was spinning a "guest" weekend in DR. ROBOCCONTI'S in TAMPA(across the street from Bush Gardens). This is when this city was totally a "Hick" town, way behind in style and music. I played I CAUGHT YOUR ACT, and started to lose the floor, I got on the mike and informed the crowd that besides being the "latest song from the band that gave you ROCK THE BOAT", it was the latest thing in NEW YORK. Then I started to remix it. When I looked up, the floor was now totally full. Can't forget that because I continued to play it for over twenty-minutes. Tampa had never heard or seen anything like that. On my scale from 1-10, this DISCO CLASSIC gets a 10.

I agree. This is one of those that I eagerly sought for its longer version. 4:31 !! As I think about it though, one of the fun challenges of DJing waaay back then was taking a record like this , getting two copies , and creating that longer version yourself, live and on the spot.

This is a great record. But a somewhat odd one (two?) hit wonder comeback. And too short! I was hoping that Jim Burgess would remix it with a longer funky disco break, but that never happened. (did it?)
Still a great stereo pressing with full bodied sound.
