The funky New Wave British group Heaven 17 has always been a personal fave of mine. Heaven 17 was formed in 1980 by former Human League members Ian Craig Marsh and Martyn Ware and got its name from a fictitious music group in the film, Clockwork Orange.
This track, Let Me Go is perhaps one the most memorable early '80s synth New Wave songs going. A dark and mysterious song yet never a downer which was perhaps their largest and best known hit. It is a haunting song that is still in rotation in any 1980s retro set.
Check out their other tracks like I'm Your Money, Play To Win and This Is Mine. Their self titled 1981 album, Heaven 17 is a must.
