New Jersey's own Gwen Guthrie began as a session vocalist doing backup for many well known Soul and pop artists. She also wrote the lyrics to "Supernatural Thing" by Ben E. King.
Gwen Guthrie worked for a while with Larry Levan on the "Padlock" EP and also did "It Should Have Been You." She passed away of uterine cancer in 1999.
