- GQ stands for "Good Quality." They began life in the late 1960s as Sabu & the Survivors and went through a few phases until they finally arrived as GQ. Lead vocals were handled by Emanuel Rahiem Leblanc.
"Disco Nights (Rock Freak)" is a classic Disco track which always pops its head as an often sampled track. The entire song shines, but that mean break is icing on the cake.
"Disco Nights (Rock Freak)" was produced and mixed by Jimmy Simpson who was best known for his many Disco remixes on Warner Brothers...
GQ later did a nice Disco track called "Standing Ovation" also on Arista Records.

I love that comment above mine. Direct and to the point, just like my three-year-old. As for this record, would I be exaggerating to call DISCO NIGHTS one of the top Five DISCO CLASSICS of all-time? I think not. This record was a PERFECT mix, each and every time it was played. You couldn't s**** it up, unless your name was SMOKEY!! Great introduction gave us a great entry mix, the fabulous break towards the end, a perfect exit mix. In between, there was plenty of room and opportunity for some creative LIVE remixing. On my scale from 1-10, of course it gets a TEN!!
