Apr 05, 2008 | 2:15 pmThis DISCO CLASSIC could be the best known song of all the great music from the DISCO era. In how many movies have you heard this song? The incredibly inspirational song is so well known, that it has become an anthem. The story of the intestinal fortitude to survive drives the very soul of the fortunate listener. The song will be well featured in my up-coming book. Of course it gets a TEN!!

The black slipcover for the disc pictured above actually advertises the flipside "Substitute" in large print with "...Survive" in smaller letters below. Because of this and because the label does not specify sides, we take it that this initial issue was intended to promote "Substitute". Likely due to its instant success, "...Survive" was reissued in a white-label promotional 12" shortly thereafter (PD D 512) b/w "Yo Vivire (Spanish Version)" at 7:57. PD D 504 pictured above also appears in white label promotional form, however still with "Substitute" as the priority track.
