MUSIC REVIEW & RECORD COLLECTOR NOTES

Phylicia Allen was better known as one of the Cosbys in the 1980s. At the time of this record, she was married to Victor Willis of the Village People. Consequently, this LP is put together by the Morali/Belolo/Willis team, and sounds like a Village People LP.

The LP tells the story of "the first black international star, Miss Josephine Baker". Most of the songs are original, but "J'ai deux amors" was Josephine's greatest hit.

Super camp but still lovable Lp from Mrs.Huxtable.

The fact that it was on Casablanca made me buy it right away...and I've always been a fan of Morali's productions.

I know you either love or hate this one.
    I <3 it.

    5. Around the world (4:38)
is a great cut. Sort of has a Dennis Parker LIKE AN EAGLE vibe . Village People provide a marvelous echoey recessed "around the world" chant continuously throughout. Cool as a cucumber Phylicia Allen reveals her fiery side and has more lines to deliver here than on an entire COSBY episode. And she sounds great.
    A sleeper .

I liked the album, still own it. But it really didn't do anything at the clubs. Not one of NEIL BOGARTS best moves. CASABLANCA lost a lot of money with this one. A 3 on my scale from 1-10.

    Cool!!!

Not my "desert island" disco album, but "J'ai deux amours" is fairly good. The rest of the stuff is pretty lame. Village People & The Ritchie Family did backing vocals.
