MUSIC REVIEW & RECORD COLLECTOR NOTES

Surprise! Bet you haven't heard this wonderful instrumental Disco song from 1976 in a long time. The "B-side" contains Wow which starts off with a very funky bass riff along with congas which then goes into orchestral Disco bliss featuring Andre's piano. Two great songs on one record. Featured here is the American release with the full artist credited as The Disco Sound of André Gagnon.

Canadian (Quebec) born pianist Andre Gagnon, who was classically trained before dipping into Disco, also put out Holiday Feeling and Smash which are two other Disco tracks in addition to Surprise to hunt down.

André Gagnon's music is very feel good and catchy and apart from serious jazz funksters should appeal to many.

As a huge fan of Andre Gagnon's piano playing ; I also dig his early disco numbers. WOW was a worldwide it ; especially in Japan...where Gagnon is a megastar.

I still play his CDs very often.Perfect mood music.

Do you like the piano? I do! And Andre sure can play those keys. Imagine a song or two that it's main element is a PIANIST!! That's what you got here. I played both cuts of this record. Now don't misunderstand me. I played them, that doesn't mean everyone liked it. It was a good warm-up song, played as you make the transition into the heavy duty DISCO. On my scale from 1-10, it gets a 4.
