MUSIC REVIEW & RECORD COLLECTOR NOTES

An Arthur baker production from 1982. How could anyone forget this Freeez track by John Rocca? Played this at a party once, before it was widely available and everyone freaked when they heard it. Over-played now, but still a classic. By the way, it's spelled Freeez NOT Freeze. John Rocca also had other jazz-funk tinged releases on Beggar's Banquet in the UK.

Landmark song for the Fairlight sampling. The first song I heard that used a Fairlight to sample a human voice. Back in 1982 nobody was doing this yet. This was a huge hit in Detroit. Those Fairlights cost $40,000 back then. In today's dollars thats around $100,000

Totally agree. This song really was something special. I love to hear it played or sampled. I have mixed it with Shannon, Mantronix, and a bunch of others. Loved the drums and iconic scratches.

Must go dig it out, I think I have it on coloured vinyl?

    Great song!

I remember my DJ friend RAY and I going to The Copa in Ft. Lauderdale to hang out with BILL KELLY when these guys were performing there. Understand now, this is a GAY club, we're straight and we had a great time. No, we didn't get up from the other side of the plate, we just heard a great group perform a great song in front of a very receptive crowd. A FREESTYLE pioneer, this song opened many doors for the DISCO offspring movement. Easy to mix in and out of, and child's play to remix. A standard in its day. On my scale from 1-10, it gets a 10.
