Biography ...
You know those parties when all of sudden everyone stops to see what's on stage and how it's all being done? That's Skylab2000. Since 1994, Dennis Barton has been traveling city to city as Skylab2000 playing his brand of hard hitting dance music. Hard house, progressive, techno, and trance are Skylab2000's calling cards.
Skylab2000 is not a DJ or a 'laptop' band. This is a 100% LIVE performance. With full set of synths, samplers, sequencers and more, a Skylab2000 performance is just that. A performance to experience, making the music onstage, changing to the crowds needs and creating a ride to remember.
With a father from Detroit and mother from Belgium, he's got dance music in his blood. Growing up in NY's disco heyday, and then the early UK rave scene, sealed his fate as a electronic music composer. Los Angeles is now home base, but it's rare to find Skylab2000 at home. The road is his living room, where most weekends he's off playing an event.
Local events, massives, and overseas international overseas festivals. He's played New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Puerto Rico, Alaska, Vancouver, Montreal, Russia, Hong Kong, Istanbul, and literaly hundreds more cities worldwide. He's worked with the best DJs in the world: Carl Cox, Donald Glaude, Juan Atkins, Sandra Collins, DJ Dan, Joey Beltram, Frankie Bones, Christopher Lawrence, Bad Boy Bill and many others. Some of the best bands - Run DMC, Rabbit in the Moon, Crystal Method, Deelite, Gus Gus, Lamb, Spicelab, Utah Saints, Uberzone, Bush and Republica, have shared the spotlight and stage with Skylab2000.
Playing live is the main focus, but this energy is often recorded and released. The US release of 'Auburn' includes the first remix by LA's Taylor. In the UK, Journeys by DJ released alternate UK mixes, getting a huge reaction, including a prestigious leading spot on the BBC with Pete Tong's Radio One Essential Selection. Auburn was played heavily by DJs such as Sasha, Carl Cox, Keoki, Pete Tong and Taylor. A series of follow up 12" releases have gathered similar response. Several tracks have also been released exclusively on the internet. On the giant mp3.com music site, two Skylab2000 tracks became the number ONE most downloaded songs overall. On that site alone, there's been close to a million downloads of Skylab2000 songs so far! You can find Skylab2000 tracks on mix CDs by Thomas Michael, Superstar DJ Keoki, Grover, DJ Psycho-Bitch, John Kelly, Sol Brothers, Taylor and many others. 2004 is coming. New releases - new cities.

Nico Demonte is a Chicago synth pop musical group.
The breakup of groups from the 1990's, including Nico Flash, Future Gazers, Boys Club, and the "Material Boy" and ìWhoís That Guyî remix were inspired by Madonna's "Material Girl," and ìWhoís That Girlî hit songs. The band recently recorded under "State of The Art." Boys Club impresario Nico Demonte soon transformed into the power pop personality of Nico Demonte in 1996. It was Kraftwerk's masterpiece, The Man Machine (1978), that formed the inspiration for Nico Demonte's remix of the ìMan Machineî remix. Kraftwerk's "Showroom Dummies" also formed the inspiration for Nico Demonteís "Mannequins in Alleys" singles. Nico admires Kraftwerk members Florian Schneider and Ralf H¸tter for their artist vision that elevates popular culture. Kraftwerk are considered pop icons according to Nico Demonte, with his other inspiration being the French composer Jean Michel Jarre. Nico Demonte (class of 1991) and rock legend Billy Corgan and lead singer of the ìSmashing Pumpkinsî (class of 1985) both graduated from Glenbard North High School in Illinois. While Billy Corgan was forming his first band ìThe Markedî in 1985, Nico Demonte played jazz and classical music as a saxaphonist, while dabbling in electronics to find new sounds. In 1990, Nico studied acting under the teacher of actor, musician, and comedian John Belushi.
The release of "Der Auslander" by Nico Demonte received radioplay and was inspired by Cajmereís ghettotech single "Time for the Perculator", DJ Ron Hardy, Jesse Saunders, Devo, Adonis, K-Alexi and the genius of Larry Sherman. A pivotal point came with the 1986 releases of the House anthem of "Move Your Body" by Marshall Jefferson, Phutureís "Acid Trax,î and Maurice Joshua / Hot Hands Hula's "This Is Acid."
The first 2000 single "Collapse of Civilization" was inspired by his experience at the legendary Berlin club Tresor, followed by the sexy dance track Phantasmagoria released in 2001. In 2003, Nico Demonte remixed skylab2000ís commercial hit ìTen,î with the Boys Club club classic released in 2003. The inspiring pop sound of Boys Club was directly inspired from the vision of Telex's "Moskow Diskow," "Thomas Dolby, Gary Numan, Yaz, OMD, John Foxx, Japan, Yellow Magic Orchestra, Atkins and 3070 aka Cybotron, New Order, Human League, Farley Jackmaster Funk's "The Acid Life, and Men Without Hats.
After hearing the Discotheque classic ìThe Chaseî by Giorgio Moroder, Nico Demonte recognized the pure genius of ìGiorgio Moroder. An album of unreleased material by Nico Demonte is scheduled to be released in 2004. A CD containing songs like the sexy synth pop anthem, "Atm Girl," from Nico Demonteís upcoming album, "Alive", has gone missing during his near-death electric shock in the Chicago-based studio.
