After Voyage departed TK Records they moved briefly to Atlantic Records never to achieve the great sound they once had. This track, "I Surrender" is just not up to their previous efforts with a tiring falsetto and blaring horns although the chorus can get a little catchy.
Taken from the "One Step Higher" album, which did yield some nice songs like the title track and "Follow the Brightest Star." Why Atlantic chose "I Surrender" over these tracks is beyond me.

Let me toughlove on Voyage: their entire career was a buildup to and letdown from "Souvenirs."
Next time you hear their campy, festive and pretty good "From East to West" (1977), consider this: don't the arrangement and lyrics sound like a rough draft of the brilliance to come? Hmm...
