The group, Flakes are on a breakfast cereal trip as far as names go, but make no mistake about how good their music is. Sugar Frosted Lover will win you over with it's smooth Disco/Garage-like grooves. Not sure if they ever put any other tracks out.
Sugar Frosted Lover was recently released on a new Disco/Funk compilation CD called Funky Collector 14 so go get it before it goes out of print.

Mar 17, 2008 | 9:15 amI actually programed this song for a few months in the middle of 1980. In fact, this song was on my turntable when I told the crowd that JOHN LENNON had been killed in December of 1980. On my scale from 1-10 it gets a 5.
Also issued in LP form on Magic Disc, then reissued by Salsoul in 1981 as SA 8540. We do not have the Magic Disc LP handy, however believe the tracks on the Salsoul LP (which is clearly superior in fidelity) are rearranged with possibly one or two substituted songs. 'Flakes' Rap' from this LP was issued promotionally by Salsoul on 12" as SG 345DJ. An additional 12" on Magic Disc "Getting Ready For You" (not on the Salsoul LP) was released as MD505. The group produced a happier type of up-tempo music which was probably more effective in an AOR rather than club environment. Noteworthy from the Salsoul LP are the up-tempo "No One (Can Love Me Like You Do), and the mesmerizing cover version of "Hey There Lonely Girl".
