MUSIC REVIEW & RECORD COLLECTOR NOTES

Sylvia Striplin was working as a back-up singer in Aquarian Dream, when Roy Ayers signed her to his label Uno Melodic in 1980.

This rare-groove disco track went on to be sampled on multiple hip-hop tracks.

"Give Me Your Love" is sampled on Armand Van Helden ft Common's "Full Moon" and Madd Rapper ft Ma$e & Tracey Lee's "That's What's Happenin.î

"You Can't Turn Me Away" is sampled on Assorted Phlavors ft Big Daddy Kane's "Make up Your Mind," Backstreet Boys's "If You Stay," Grand Oral Disceminator's "That's How it Is," Junior MAFIA's "Get Money," and Naughty by Nature's "Hip Hop Hooray."

A brilliant jazz vocal over still-sharp beats. This sort of record occasionally turned disco into high art.
