Madleen couldn't sing her way out of a paper bag. But her saleable looks and high spirits ensured the best of everything: producers, material, and promotion. That meant something back in the day, and as a result she cut three excellent singles, all big club hits: "Rough Diamond" (1978); the anthemic "Forbidden Love (1979, from "Cheri"), and "You Can/"Fire in My Heart" (1981). She had several lesser hits, but these are still worth a spin.
