Reader Comments on Silvetti

Although "Spring Rain" was never remixed from it's original state, it was shortened for the "World Without Words" LP, which did poorly in sales, vs. the 12" single.
\Next came Sasoul's "Spring Rain" LP, which was a remix version of the original LP from Spain Done to re-include "Voyage Of No Return", as a follow-up track. Quite honestly, if you can get ahold of the original mixes from Spain ("Bebu Silvetti - Lluvia De Primavera", on Hispavox), you'll hear just how much the tracks were watered-down by Moulton's sterile, snoozefest remixes. The originals have bright, rhythmically charged arrangements, with string hits that cut like fine-edged razors. And intricate latin percussions, layered beautifully, that are almost non-existent on the Salsoul incarnations. ("Coconut Rain", too, is infinitely better, in it's original state!) Even on the 2nd time out of the gate, Salsoul managed to bury the most trademark "Silvetti" elements, from his recordings.

And, if you want to hear the arrangement of "Spring Rain", as it was inteneded to sound, buy a Canadian or Espana copy. The US copy's sound quality is only a step away from Mexican pressings.
