NOTES ON THIS VINYL RECORD:

A great obscure Midnight Rhythm record by the equally obscure production team of Joe Long and Robby Adcock, although you can also credit Richie Rivera for much of it's greatness. For the most part, this record is a hard-driving, epic disco production, which is a little bit on the darker side of disco. A great find if you ever come across it.

Side 2 is an interesting, pretty good disco track from this one-off act.

Don't judge this record by its cover. The musical concept is clearly a riff on the Village People, but indescribably superior, like seemingly every obscure rip-off of that act (Macho, Revanche, etc.)

Although nothing sounds quite like the 12" mixes "Workin & Slavin" and "Climb," their ecstatic joy (which is "dark" as Bernie says, in the sense that such a overt record could not be made in these conservative times) calls to mind Dan Hartman's wildest turns, Theo Vaness and Sylvester at their best.

The single record it sounds most like may be Nightforce's somewhat less obscure "D-A-N-C-E" from 1982. That record, which is pretty fair on its own account, doesn't touch this album. Grab it and play it in the morning with confidence, before it becomes a $100 eBay item!

You know it's a real shame that there are not honest people in this world. Ie: Joe Long. My father who is Gary Levine aka Oliver Walrus went into Joe Longs studio Fat Chance Records with the assumption of making it big as Joe Long informed him. Only to find that he would be ripped off and made sick. After Joe Long literally ripped him off, my father became ill from it and lived a life time fighting from it. His dreams were smashed no thanks to Joe Long. I'm sorry if this is harsh but he made my fathers life harsh. Unfortunately my fathers dreams never came true to make it big even though he had the potential to make it. I have not heard the "new" versions of Workin and Slavin and Climb by Richie Rivera so I really can not judge those but those of you that heard the originals that my father did were out of this world. It's just a shame that some in the music industry has to lie and cheap people from their dreams. Unfortunately my father Oliver Walrus passed away 10/29/06 from the life long illness of his diabetes that was caused from the stressful life of his past. I was happy to find this site to post my rant. Again, I'm not a hateful person but some people really deserved more recognition. By the way, does anybody know if Joe Long is still alive?
