This is just such an amazing record. It came out at the same time the original "Alien" movie was released. The artist name, Nostromo, being taken from the name of the mothership. If anyone likes the movie then this is a must have. Starts off with the sounds of the opening credits and then lurches in to an Alien killing spree and a fantastic heavy electronic disco working of the movies theme tune. This was so much fun on the dancefloor at the time because you would get everybody doing John Hurt alien tummy eruptions!! Even the cat is in there if you listen closely enough. It should have been massive but the novelty factor was probably too much at the time! Priceless! The B-side is sadly just throwaway electronic nonsense. Now, who can remember the cat's name?

Nov 08, 2004 | 10:28 pmhrm. i love both sides, but i think "around the world in 80 seconds" may actually have more staying power. "gom jabbar", the b-side of "black hole", is better by far than that a-side, as well. nostromo's cover of "the imperial march" from _the empire strikes back_ is by turns risible and execrable... maybe they should have stuck to writing their own choons?

Aug 22, 2004 | 6:45 pmI never had this record as part of my original Disco music collection, but I do remember the name of the cat. The cat's name was "Jones" I do believe.

I picked this up on 7" in Oxfam the other day, not knowing anything about it. What a fantastic record! And the b-side is even better.. both tracks are a little cheesy (in the best possible way), but I could easily imagine "80 Seconds" being played by many of the Italo DJs of today and not sounding out of place. Top stuff!
