MUSIC REVIEW & RECORD COLLECTOR NOTES

The Crusaders featuring Randy Crawford on vocals had a major crossover hit with "Street Life" in 1979. It's a super song that has class and style written all over it. This is normally not my type of music, but one has to make an exception when it is this good.

This original album (MCA-3094 "Street Life") contains the full 11:18 version with the instrumental intro, which is often ommitted in other sources. Featured here is a promo 12 inch clocking in at 6:02.

DiscoMusic.com member "Mixmachine" describes this 12 inch version:
The LP's sax /accapella intro was removed and they added more punch to the drums and a bit of reverb to Randy's vocals. Also there is a great conga breakdown with the bass and rhythm guitars solos layering over it followed by the sax solo. This 12 inch version was definitely created for the dance floors and is very different from the more jazzy LP version, well worth seeking out.
