Kid Creole and the Coconuts along with August Darnell never seem to fail. The "Wise Guy" album is chuck full of quirky lyrics that sometimes have you rolling on the floor. For example in "Annie, I'm Not Your Daddy" one of the lines are... "Oh Annie, I'm not your daddy cause if I was in your blood then you wouldn't be so ugly..."! How could you not enjoy listening and then singing along to lyrics like that? Just get this or any Kid Creole record and live a little.

Sep 30, 2007 | 3:41 amAugust Darnell, Coati Mundi, & Cory Daye have to be some of the most underrated producers/ writers/ performers/ singers of the time. The band was known for some hit tracks, but this album, as well as "In Praise of Older Women and Other Crimes", is well worth having for every single track, because there's GENIUS in every single track. A special mention goes here for the melancholic and dreamy "No Fish Today"...
Knowing the KID, being one of his biggest fans, I love the silliness of some of his music. This album kicks butt. I'M A WONDERFUL THING,BABY is simply fascinating. You've really got to pay attention to the words. Funny is not a big enough word! My favorite song on this LP is STOOL PIGEON. You have to get a hold of these lyrics. Sounds like he has had some personal experiences!! While definitely not DISCO, it is good. On my scale from 1-10, it gets a 7.
