"Bring the Family Back" (5:53) b/w "It's Critical" (6:33) was issued as a promotional 12" (2Z8 3678) in 1979 on Philadelphia International by CBS under its subsidiary label numbering system which made no distinction between commercial and promotional releases. While a commercial release of this title may exist, we have not seen it. "Family.." is instrumentally smooth, very playable and collectible. Its lyrics speak to PIR's tendency to table social issues by way of the music it released

BILLY PAUL was always one of the hippest talents on Philly International, mixing together soul and jazz influences with a deeper sense of spirituality, and long experience as a sophisticated vocalist.
He had hit the disco scene in 1977 with "Only the strong survive". "Bring the family back", is a true disco classic.
