Dynasty had a funky track for sure in 1979 with I Don't Want To Be A Freak (But I Can't Help Myself).
Solar Records had a great stable of artists including Carrie Lucas, Shalamar, Midnight Star, The Whispers and Lakeside.

Jul 23, 2004 | 6:21 pmThis Dynasty record was nice. It had an infectious beat, catchy vocal hooks and it well represented the era of disco music. But as far as composition, musical quality, lyrical substance, and just plain funk, it pales in comparison to Dynasty's future work. That's a shame because they are more recognized and remembered for this song than probably most of their other tunes. This tune merely scratches the surface of the music of this very talented, yet very underrated group. Anyone who's remotely curious about Dynasty, owe it to themselves to check out as much material on them as they can find. Or for that matter, check out any other artist on the Solar records roster, since members of Dynasty composed at least 75% of all the music recorded on the old Solar label.

B Side track is a better dance track than the more famous A side.
