The Dunning Sisters from Skyy, named, Denise, Delores and Bonnie made the song back in 1980, written by Randy Muller, entitled, "Here's To You". The truth is they sang it too low, too wild, too crazy, too funky, too weird and too sassy, plus it doesn't have enough soulfulness. Howard Hewett from Shalamar could have done a better job on his soulful R&B-inflected disco rendition of "Here's To You", which it could have featured background vocals by:

    Howard Hewett (himself)
    James Ingram
    Phillip Ingram
    Luther Vandross
    Jim Gilstrap
    Roy Galloway
    Patrice Rushen

That's what his soulful rendition could have sounded like and could have been better and not as wild as the original one. Howard Hewett should have sung his own lines: "Pick up when I'm down./Thank you, girl." and "I want to thank you, girl."
