Mar 06, 2008 | 2:09 pmOne of their really good albums. Everybody knows "Why can't we be friends" and the iconic "Lowrider", which was totally the anthem to my neighborhood (below Temple street, 1 block from the Rampart Police station, in L.A.) when it was released. My faves are "Don't let no one get you down", and "Heartbeat", followed by the "Leroy" suite...

LOWRIDER; to this day, my friend Larry who penned the intro to the song, still gets monthly royalty checks that average $2000 a month!! It is heard in commercials ,in movies,on TV. It is covered by so many bands!! An anthem!! WHY CAN'T WE BE FRIENDS is bigger!!! Maybe not!! But WHY CAN'T WE BE FRIENDS wasn't an ANTHEM, instead it was a MOVEMENT!!! Did you know that the art-work, the cartoon faces and characters were all based on real people!!?? I found Tommy Chong, Bobby Segal(Black Panthers), Bruce Lee,Sonny Bono. Do you believe that??
