AHH THE ROMANTIC!! God Bless You!! Those surely were the grand old days!! I can relate to you, this album can't help but bring back those great memories.An album like this one stays with you, constantly reminding you of those times, the friends and places, and of course the girls you shared it with. It is like "The first man on the moon", you KNOW where you were when you saw that, way back when. You KNOW where you were, who you were with, when you heard this album!! Isn't that GREAT, that DISCO MUSIC can give us such a special memory??!! Enjoy!!

This was the most creative if not the best disco album. Disco music peaked for me with this album. Nothing after this by anybody even came close. I have happy memories regarding the music on this album. The songs bring back the image of a beautiful Italian-American girl from Bath Beach, Brooklyn I was attending college with. She passed briefly through my life but I never forgot her. Wherever she is today I hope this album hold happy memories for her too.

This could be the BEST DISCO ALBUM of all time, even though DONNA SUMMER and THE TRAMMPS might beg to differ. I am a huge fan of AUGUST DARNELL , and it is HE, not CORY DAYE or ANDY HERNANDEZ who made this record click. I had the privilege to see DR BUZZARD'S perform live on more than one occasion. It is the KID who is in control, the KID who makes things click! Now granted, together with Coti Mundai, Armando Bonilla, Cory Daye, Sugar coated Andy Hernandez and AUGUSTS' brother STONY, it was the GROUP that made the MAGIC!! If they would have remained together (and straight!) they would no doubt eventually have owned the world!! Just a slight exaggeration, but they would have owned the DISCO WORLD!! What I don't understand, is why they dropped the word "BRASS" from their name? Back in 1975, they performed at the COPACABANA (the first time I ever seen or heard of them) and were billed as DR. BUZZARD'S ORIGINAL SAVANNAH BRASS BAND? Then they dropped the BRASS?? I wonder why? I wonder if it was just a MIS-PRINT?? Anyhow, I always called them DR BUZZARD'S ORIGINAL SAVANNAH BRASS BAND and continue to this day! The first cut that was played initially was I'LL PLAY THE FOOL FOR YOU, that is what we were TOLD to play. But every New York deejay took that album, and played it to death. I jumped on CHER CHEZ LA FEMME, WALTER GIBBONS jumped on SOUR AND SWEET. JIMMY BURGESS played SUNSHOWER and HARD TIMES as well. I mean we all played each of those songs, but individually those were what they featured more. This album gets five TENS on my scale from 1-10 for the five songs that got played. Simply put, if you don't have this album, where have you been??

A big fan of Kid Creole in the '80s, there's no surprise I LOVE this album. "I'll play the Fool", "Cherchez la Femme", "We got it Made", and "Sour and Sweet" carry the same genius I loved the Cory Daye/Kid Creole tracks for. A must have for anyone into quality music & disco.

I love this song! The lead singer's voice reminds me of the Polish singer, Basia, of 80's fame. In fact, when I first heard this song, I wondered if maybe it was an early work of Basia.

I love Dr. Buzzard and Cher Chez le Femme. I always found the combination of that tune and Cory Daye's voice "intriguing" (for lack of a better word). She reminds me of the adventure or mystery or enticement of a newly met dance partner and a one night stand. Maria Mulduar and "Midnight At The Oasis" had a similar effect though no where near the same degree as Cory Daye.

Also released in 1976 on RCA "Nipper" black label. Re-released in 1981 with RCA catalog# AFL1-1504. Only complete Dr. Buzzard album to be released on CD (RCA/BMG catalog# 1504.)

There is something catchy about low country creole jazz that goes way beyond these cuts maquerading as disco. Reference k d lang's "Miss Chatelaine". Is there a hint of history here? (The Jenkins Orphanage Band/s). I'd like to learn more about 1920's & 30's jazz bands in Charleston and Savannah? This style of music is infectious.
