MUSIC REVIEW & RECORD COLLECTOR NOTES

This is the 1979 solo debut of The Supremes' Mary Wilson with Motown staff producer Hal Davis taking the production duties. Davis has produced such classics such as Diana Ross' "Love Hangover", Jackson 5's "Dancing Machine" and Thelma Houston's "Don't Leave Me This Way" to name a few. It's a decent album, even if the material isn't up to par with some of his best work. Sometimes the production tends to sound a little bit rushed at times.. The first single was "Red Hot", which is a nice piece of lite disco-funk with Mary channeling James Brown (!) .. It was released as a 12" single on red vinyl remixed by Rusty Garner..

Mary's voice really shines on the slow, and mid-tempo tracks, but the disco tracks are good as well, even if they're a bit on the formulaic side..
