Ashford & Simpson are Nickolas Ashford and Valerie Simpson and they began their singing and song writing career back in the 1960's with Ray Charles and Motown (Ain't No Mountain High Enough). They also produced and wrote songs for Diana Ross amongst many others.

By 1983 Ashford and Simpson had moved from Warner Brothers to the Capitol label for their "High-Rise" album and later "Solid" release.
